Wonderful old vintage Art Deco 10k white gold cameo / intaglio black onyx ring, size 8-3/4. Features a hand carved black onyx cameo / intaglio of a flapper girl in right facing profile with short bobbed hair and a string of pearls around her neck. The stone is cut and polished to form an oval around the profile, the center being matte finished and outer portion highly polished, to really set off the carving and make it pop. The mounting is truly gorgeous with deeply carved chaff of wheat engraving down the shoulders of the band and fine milgrained bead work edges. The ring measures 5/8" wide, the band tapers to 4mm at the back of the ring shank, and weighs a sturdy 6.3 grams, which makes it easy to safely size up or down a few sizes. The black onyx stone itself measures 13.5mm x 12mm and has mitered corners (cushion cut). The ring is hallmarked "10K" as well as maker marked for Kraus & Beam on the inside the ring shank. In outstanding well cared for condition with no issues or repairs to note. Circa 1920-1940. A unisex style and proportion/size, would look equally well on a man or a woman.

About the maker: Kraus & Beam- (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). Manufacturers of 10, 14, and 18k gold rings and mountings; precious and semi precious stone set rings and wedding rings. Advertised in the trade publication Keystone in 1931. Predecessor to House of Kraus Jewelers, also of Pittsburgh, PA, Their maker mark is a triangle formed by 6 stacked bricks.
